September 16th, 2014 (InsideCostaRica.com) A boat carrying 32 tourists as part of a whale-watching tour in Bahia Uvita in Osa, Puntarenas, capsized yesterday morning after being struck by a powerful wave.
Other nearby tourist vessels immediately responded to the scene to assist, and none of the occupants – all of whom were wearing life jackets – were injured in the incident.
Most of the tourists were Costa Rican nationals, according to reports.
The National Emergency Commission (CNE) issued a warning on Sunday of possible rough seas along the Pacific coast through Tuesday.
Area tour operators have been busy recently following the arrival of Humpback whales in the area.
