August 29th, 2014 (InsideCostaRica.com) A 20-year-old woman identified by the last names Vargas Solis was stabbed in the chest on Wednesday evening in Escazu when assailants tried to steal her cellular phone. She is four months pregnant.
The attack took place at 8:25pm on the side of the Catholic Church in San Antonio de Escazu when the woman was intercepted by at least two attackers.
A Red Cross official said the woman was transported in critical condition to the San Juan de Dios Hospital where surgeons operated on the woman immediately.
The woman remains hospitalized in very serious condition. The suspects were able to flee the scene.
