Developing: National Registry officials under investigation for embezzlement

July 22nd, 2014 (InsideCostaRica.com) Attorney General, Jorge Chavarria confirmed yesterday that three officials of the National Registry are under investigation for embezzlement after a complaint filed by Justice Minister, Cristina Ramirez.

 

Under investigation are the Deputy Director of the National Registry, Dagoberto Sibaja Morales, as well as a director in charge of auditing and another official.

 

A press spokesman for the Ministry of Justice said that details of the investigation would not be immediately released, but confirmed that Sibaja has been placed on leave.

 

Embezzlement by public officials in punishable by three to twelve years in prison.
