Ammonia gas leak at Pipasa plant causes scare
April 9th, 2014 (InsideCostaRica.com) Emergency workers responded yesterday to an ammonia gas leak at the Pipasa corporation in San Antonio de Belén.
Pipasa, a subsidiary of Cargill, is Costa Rica’s largest poultry manufacturer and distributor.
Firefighters secured the area and the leak was contained.
The incident occurred at about 3:50pm. Firefighters from Santa Ana, a rescue unit from Tibas and a HAZMAT team from Barrio Mexico responded to the scene.
There were no reports of injuries or illness from the incident.
