April 3rd, 2014 (InsideCostaRica.com) The Regulatory Authority for Public Services (ARESEP) has approved additional price increases in gasoline and diesel which will take effect in the coming days.
Super gasoline will increase by ¢45 per liter, while regular gasoline will increase by ¢36 per liter. Diesel will see an increase of ¢25 per liter. The increases are higher than were expected when ARESEP made its first announcement last month.
ARESEP said the price increases are the result of “changes in the international market,” the dollar exchange rate, and an approved increase of 16.7% to the Costa Rican Oil Refinery’s (RECOPE) operating margin.
The new prices will take effect as soon as they are published in the official La Gaceta in the next few days.
