Body, possibly of North American, found floating in Playa Manzanillo, Guanacaste

January 22^nd, 2014 (InsideCostaRica.com) Judicial agents recovered yesterday evening the remains of a man found floating in Playa Manzanillo, Guanacaste.  Initial reports indicate that the man may be from the United States or Canada.

An anonymous caller alerted authorities to the presence of the body, which was later sent to the Forensic Science Complex in Heredia in order to determine the man’s identity and cause of death.

An initial examination did not reveal any gunshot or stab wounds, though the body was in a state of decomposition.

Police officials said that they have not received any missing person reports that would correspond to the discovery.  Officials will continue to investigate the man’s identity and cause of death.
