December 11th, 2013 (InsideCostaRica.com) A Ticabus driver was arrested on suspicion of money laundering after authorities discovered $375,000 hidden inside the walls of the bathroom of the bus he was driving.
The seizure was made by agents of the Drug Control Police (PCD) on the Peñas Blancas border on Monday. The cash was contained in 32 packages wrapped in plastic and duct tape.
The bus and driver were returning from Mexico.
The 51-year-old driver, identified by the last name Loria, was arrested at the scene but was freed by a judge yesterday. He is not allowed to leave the country, pending possible charges. While there were 54 passengers on the bus at the time of seizure, authorities identified the driver as the primary suspect.
