November 7th, 2013 (InsideCostaRica.com) An officer with the Judicial Investigation Organization (OIJ)’s homicide section, identified by the last name Gonzalez, shot and killed a man who attempted to rob him in Corazón de Jesús in Aserri.
The incident occurred around 8pm last night, when the officer was stopped by two men riding on a motorcycle, at least one of which was apparently armed.
Gonzalez apparently opened fire in self-defense, hitting one of the suspects in the thorax.
The Red Cross said the man died at the scene. Authorities located a .22 caliber weapon near the body.
Authorities are attempting to locate the other suspect.
