November 5th, 2013 (InsideCostaRica.com) The partial remains of a dismembered woman were discovered by workers floating in the Chuca dam in Balsa de Atenas.
According to the Judicial Investigation Organization (OIJ), a decomposed left foot with painted toenails and a part of an arm were recovered. Authorities believe the remains may have been in the waters of the Rio Grande for several days.
Authorities said there are no reports of a missing person in the area. No further remains were recovered after a thorough search of the river.
The remains were taken to the Forensic Sciences Complex in San Joaquin de Flores, Heredia.
