GUATEMALA CITY November 4th, 2013 (ISH) – Guatemalan police used information they obtained following the arrest of an alleged Los Zetas drug lord to find a weapons arsenal that belongs to the Mexico-based cartel.
Gerardo “Yanqui” Jaramillo, who allegedly oversaw Los Zetas’ illegal activities in Guatemala, was taken into custody in Mexico City on Oct. 8. Mexican police forwarded the information they received from Jaramillo during an interrogation to Guatemalan authorities, who searched two homes about 30 kilometers southeast of the nation’s capital of Guatemala City.
Police arrested two Mexicans after seizing a submachine gun, 11 assault rifles, a dozen shotguns, grenade-launchers, 11 grenades and about 2,000 bullets during the search of the residences and four cars park on the properties.
