October 16th, 2013 (InsideCostaRica.com) A collision between a truck and a train in Sabana Sur yesterday morning left three people injured. Two of the injured were taken to the San Juan de Dios Hospital with head injuries.
The driver of the truck, who tested negative for alcohol, said that the train never blew its horn as it approached the intersection where the collision occurred.
The collision caused the truck to spill its load of plantains and bananas across the roadway, further complicating traffic jams caused by the accident.
A transit officer on the scene said that witnesses indicate that the driver of the truck did not hear the train’s horn or notice it approaching, and indicated that the truck driver was at fault for the accident.
The train suffered no damage and was able to continue service after a short time.
