New service will put used car through Riteve-like inspection before you buy

October 2nd, 2013 (InsideCostaRica.com) A new firm called Certifi-Car is offering a Riteve-style inspection and background check on used cars before you make the purchase.

The service begins with a background check of the vehicle, which includes the number of previous owners, accidents, legal issues, and a check of the National Registry amongst other items.

Next, the vehicle is put through an evaluation similar to the annual car inspection known as Riteve, but with several additional analysis.  Checks include the motor, gearbox, odometer (for alteration), chassis, brakes, suspension and steering, emissions, as well as electronic checks of the paint and any body putty from previous body work and other mechanical and cosmetic issues.

The service comes at a cost of ¢50,000.
