September 26th, 2013 (InsideCostaRica.com) Some 306 new police officers of the Fuerza Publica began patrolling Costa Rica this week, in addition to hundreds more that will serve in other capacities.
In total, the Fuerza Publica graduated 620 officers – 535 men and 85 women – during a ceremony on Monday.
“The new officers are part of the Security Ministry’s commitment to the public,” the Ministry of Public Security said in a press release.
Besides the 306 new officers who will take to patrol, others will be assigned to the Air Surveillance Service, Tourist Police, and management roles.
The Fuerza Publica has just over 12,000 officers in total.
