Costa Rica health authorities urging flu vaccination

September 20th, 2013 (InsideCostaRica.com) Authorities from the Ministry of Health are urging the general public to visit their local pharmacy and get vaccinated against influenza.

According to health authorities, flu cases and acute respiratory infections increase in September and October as the rainy season intensifies.

Authorities also reminded the public of the importance of proper hygiene, especially during flu season.

So far this year, the A-H1N1 influenza virus, also known as “swine flu,” has killed at least 19 people in Costa Rica.

Authorities recommend vaccination against both influenza A and B.
