August 27th, 2013 (InsideCostaRica.com) Venezuelan president, Nicolas Maduro, said yesterday that Costa Rica “was the epicenter of the meeting” in which a plan to assassinate him was devised.

According to reports, the meeting was allegedly held in May in Costa Rica, though the specific location is not mentioned.  The meeting allegedly took place between gunmen who responded to orders from Luis Posada Carriles, a Cuban American accused of terrorism who is being held in Miami.

Costa Rica’s Communication Minister, Carlos Roverssi, said that Costa Rica has not received any official communication from the Venezuelan government regarding the matter, and as a result is not in a position to comment on the matter.

Maduro’s statements came after the capture of two Colombian gunmen allegedly involved in the plot to assassinate the Venezuelan president.

Maduro is demanding that U.S. President Barack Obama reveal if the U.S. government had any involvement or knowledge of the “international right-wing conspiracy” which he attributed to Venezuelan opposition groups with connections to Miami and Bogota.
