August 27th, 2013 (InsideCostaRica.com) Two Bailey bridges will be installed on the Circunvalación in the area between Hatillo 7 and Hatillo 8 in the direction towards Uruca as a result of a sinkhole which is threatening the roadway. The sinkhole is believed to have been caused by a collapsed sewer.
The Bailey bridges, each measuring 54 meters in length, will likely be put in place this weekend according to Transport Minister, Pedro Castro. Authorities said the installation would be similar to the Bailey bridges that were installed on the General Cañas highway.
The work this weekend will result in a full closure of the lanes in the Hatillo-Pavas direction.
Castro is asking that motorists be patient and to use alternate routes as much as possible in order to avoid congestion in the area.
