Man kills girlfriend in Santa Cruz, sends photo of the scene to sister
August 19th, 2013 (InsideCostaRica.com) A man identified by the last name of Macotelo is accused of strangling his girlfriend, Angie Obando Zuniga, 27 and then sending a photo of the crime scene to his sister.
The killing took place in the man’s apartment in Santa Cruz, Guanacaste.
Obando was believed to be missing until authorities received a report that Macotelo sent pictures of the woman’s corpse to his sister, who lives in Limon.
According to authorities the man sent photos of the corpse to his sister and expressed his regret for the killing. He also sent messages to some of his family members indicating he had killed the woman. The relatives then alerted authorities, who responded to the man’s apartment.
Police found the woman’s body on a bed in the apartment.
Obando was last seen Friday afternoon.
Apparently Obando wanted to end her relationship with the man. Police located him a short distance away at Cabinas Llano in Santa Cruz.
Macotelo was originally from Guapiles, and moved to Guanacaste several years ago to work in a hotel.
