Shocking act of animal cruelty in Limon

August 13^th, 2013 (InsideCostaRica.com) In a shocking act of animal cruelty, a young dog was found with an extremely deep machete wound in its back, still clinging to its life, in Limon.

The dog was rescued by a passerby in La Alegría de Siquirres who found the animal crying and almost motionless, but still clinging to life.

The woman told local newspaper, Diario Extra, that she had no money to take the dog to a vet, so instead took the animal to a neighborhood man who knew how to perform sutures.

The man was able to close the deep wound to prevent further bleeding.

Thanks to the pair the dog remains alive, but is in need of further medical attention.

“I do not know what to do, I have no money to maintain [the dog] much less take it to a vet.  I’m afraid the wound will re-open,” the woman told Diaro Extra.

The woman said the dog is friendly and seems fond of her home but she is hoping someone can adopt the animal so that it can receive proper medical care, as she fears its life is still in danger.

There is no indication of who may have attacked the animal.
