Man arrested with $333,000 in his vehicle
August 7th, 2013 (InsideCostaRica.com) The Judicial Investigation Organization (OIJ) arrested yesterday a Colombian man who was carrying $333,000 USD in his vehicle. The man’s identity has not been revealed.
The OIJ said in a statement that the 55-year-old suspect was arrested in the town of Rio Claro de Golfito, Puntarenas, on his way to the Paso Canoas border with Panama.
Authorities apparently received a confidential tip that led to the man’s arrest.
A 40-caliber handgun was also seized. The suspect could face charges of money laundering, which is punishable by 8 to 20 years in prison.
