Dramatic video shows off-duty OIJ agent in face-to-face firefight with would-be robber (VIDEO)

August 5th, 2013 (InsideCostaRica.com) A security camera captured a dramatic shootout between an off-duty OIJ and a would-be robber who opened fire on the agent at point-blank range.

 

The incident took place in a store in Las Brisas del Caribe de Cariari, Pococi.

 

According to the deputy directory of the OIJ, the officer involved, Gustavo Mata, can be repeatedly seen on the video asking the suspect to drop his weapon.  Instead, the suspect opened fire on the officer at point-blank range.

 

The suspect was wounded and later expired on the sidewalk in front of the store.

 

Amazingly, the OIJ agent was reportedly unharmed in the violent attack.

    Good for him, I hope he get a large bonus. If more citizens were trained and armed, crime would drop.If a criminal is shot in the commission of a crime the shooter should get a large reward.

      The solution will not be found in arming the public, but ( I’m sounding like a defective vinyl recording) in cleaning up the dysfunctionally corrupt justice system in this country.

    which is why most cc courses have training from shooting at 3 feet and less walking backward using your non shooting hand as defense. point your index finder at an object 3 feet away and see how little you have to move it before it is a miss. then try doing it as your heart rate exceeds 200 beats per minute, your bladder voids and you lose feeling in your fingers and toes. non criminals carrying weapons is not a lark, and i have yet to meet someone that sincerely wanted to shoot a human that was not a criminal.
