Indigenous girl dies from stab wound after kidnapping and rape

According to officials of the Fuerza Publica, the suspect in the girl’s killing already had an arrest warrant for raping the same girl.

July 26th, 2013 (InsideCostaRica.com) An 11-year-old girl has died from a stab wound after being kidnapped and raped on the Copey Indian Reservation in La Casona de Limoncito, Coto Brus, Puntarenas.

 

According to residents, the girl’s killer was obsessed with the little girl.

 

A concerned citizen called 911 to report that she believed her neighbor, 28-year-old Bejarano Ismael Bejarano, had kidnapped the girl and was holding her against her will in his home.

 

Police responded to the call along with the Red Cross, but were slowed by the remoteness of the location which requires access by 4×4 and horseback.

 

Upon arrival, they found the child with a stab wound to the chest.  Red Cross workers attempted to rush the girl to the hospital in San Vito, Coto Brus, but difficult travel meant the trip took two hours.

 

The girl eventually died at 3:45pm, shortly after her arrival at the hospital.

 

According to officials of the Fuerza Publica, the suspect in the girl’s killing already had an arrest warrant for raping the same girl.

 

The man was taken into custody and remains in a San Vito jail.

    Why was this man out of jail,if he raped a child? He should be given a very short trial then hung!

    If this is the same guy who was recently apprehended, arrested, and put in preventative detention, then we have a serious system breakdown. The understandable alternative is vigilante justice, but in the long run that’s even worse, since lots of innocent people will be strung up without having the chance to prove their innocence. Interestingly, once again the cops appear to be doing their jobs, while the breakdown is in the judicial system.

      Just FYI / this is a different case/incident than the other one we reported on earlier this month. Nonetheless, one wonders what the man was doing free if his place of residence didn’t seem to be a mystery to anyone and he had an outstanding warrant for raping the same child.

      We don’t have a serious system breakdown, Ken. We have a justice system that is entirely dysfunctional! On a daily basis, career criminals are set free while the wrongly accused are railroaded into signing false confessions. Meanwhile, victims are extorted into dropping all charges after having to defend themselves against erroneous charges laid by their tormentors.
      There’s a reason why the logo figures representing Tribunales are completely naked. This woefully corrupt system strips its participants of everything…their dignity, self worth, any concept of justice, and, of course, every penny they have.
      As I’ve stated in an earlier comment, the problem starts with the fact that the College of Lawyers does not effectively police its own.
