Today is not a good day to need a tow truck

June 14th, 2013 (InsideCostaRica.com) If your vehicle breaks down today, it may have to stay where it is for a while.   The National Union of Tow Truck Drivers is on strike today and will not be providing services.

Some 58 towing companies from around the country are joining the work stoppage, in protest of the rates paid to them by the Instituto Nacional de Seguros (INS).

“For a typical service worth ¢ 20,000, [INS] wants to pay only about ¢ 9,000 – less than 50% – and we are not going to allow it,” said Alberto Nunez, a union representative.
