June 4th, 2013 (InsideCostaRica.com) Officers of the Fuerza Publica arrested two suspects yesterday on the beach of Moin.  The suspects had in their possession turtle eggs, a homemade shotgun, and a .38 caliber handgun.

The arrests took place on the same beach where Jairo Sandoval Mora, a 26-year-old environmentalist working to protect sea turtle eggs, was killed execution-style on Thursday.

Police said the suspects were caught with 74 leatherback turtle eggs in their possession.  The arrests occurred at 2:20 a.m.

The suspects, identified by the last names of Herrera and Lopez, were turned over to the Flagrancy Court on violations of wildlife law.

Also yesterday, police captured three men and a minor driving an ATV on the same beach to locate turtle nests.
