Amazing Video of Costa Rican Beauty is Being Seen by Thousands in North Americans Theaters

BY WILBERTH VILLALOBOS CASTRILLO for VoN News

Short but substantial. This describes the video made by the Costa Rican Tourism Institute (ICT) to promote the country’s tourism activity in U.S. and Canadian markets.

The one-minute film is being presented as a commercial just before the beginning of movies on 1345 screens located in New York, Chicago, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Denver, Atlanta, West Palm Beach, Dallas and Houston, from April to June, as well as in Montreal, Canada in November, according to information from ICT.

Andres Madrigal, photographer and audiovisual producer for the magazine Costa Rica Traveler, participated in shooting the film by director Patrick Pierson from the U.S. company Drive Thru, which was contracted by ICT to film the advertisement.

Madrigal told VON that they shot more than 40 hours of film, in addition to taking numerous photographs last year in October and November, visiting around 18 places throughout the entire country. The places were selected beforehand by ICT, including Nosara, where they filmed people taking yoga classes, although this footage doesn’t appear in the commercial.

“I arrived in Nosara wanting to shoot the beach (Guiones) but the list sepcifically said that we should record yoga, so we did that and later we didn’t have enough time to film more since we had to keep traveling,” commented Madrigal.

In addition, the photographer related that the film crew was composed of nine people and that during the filming they used six video cameras, including a rather unusual one, which was installed on a small remote-control helicopter to record areal shots.

According to Madrigal, the objective of this first installment of the project was to build a stock of high-quality photographs and video that cover practically the entire national territory, showing the natural and touristic beauties of the areas.

ICT estimated that this first commercial will be played around 8 million times in North American teathers, which will guarantee ample exposure to one of the top markets in prospective international tourism.

“played 8 million times…” no way to measure how many people will be chatting or checking phones while commercial is playing. And it will be one in a long line of commercial clutter before the multi million dollar feature film wipe out the impact the commercial might have. NOBODY shops for vacation travel in a movie theater.

  • Jerry

Bet they don’t show the trash, filth and shacks that are the main thing you see in that cesspool of a country. Spend your vacation money someplace nice but not costa rica. The ICT can not even be contacted. I emailed them once and no response at all.

Will they list the places guaranteed to make your belongings disappear, where a glass of water means a good shot of arsenic and tell you about buying private “travellers” health insurance so if you get hurt you won’t wind up in a “hospital” that has less equipment than a pet clinic in Tennessee with a doctor who thinks FarceBook is “the internet” ?
I guess not. That’s my job.

Maybe you should run for president and then you can fix everything you think is wrong.

          • georgechapogas

why don’t you? i have no interest in telling others how to live. do you think your posts are cute or something? the article is about the ad. the ad will not move people. can you support differently? .

          • Happy to be here

I was commenting not strictly on this particular post of yours but noting your negative posts on almost every subject and it gets a little tiresome. Just thought maybe it might make you think before you write, instead of constantly spouting off. No need to reply, I am sure you will be hearing from me again, unless of course you say something positive.

          • Randy Roden

Finally!!! Everyone is now seeing what I saw the first time I read one of his comments. Nothing positive, only everything NEGATIVE..

Thanks for commenting, I was beginning to think it was only me that thought he was totally overboard on almost everything

I can understand someone that came for a visit and had a bad experience to be angry or bitching, but the rest of people are haters! The sad thing about the haters is that they’re always bitching about CR but they don’t go back to their native countries.
