May 24th, 2013 (InsideCostaRica.com) The rainy season will finally get underway today, according to the National Meteorological Institute (IMN).
Strong rains are expected to begin in the Caribbean today, before spreading to the rest of the country. The heaviest rains are expected to reach the Central Valley and the Pacific late today, where between a half an inch to 2 inches of rain are expected. Rainfall could continue through the night.
The IMN is warning of the possibility of flash floods in urban areas and near rivers and streams.
