46.9% of Costa Ricans support homosexuals in politics
May 20th, 2013 (InsideCostaRica.com) A recent study, known as the Study of Democratic Politics (also referred to as the Americas Barometer), revealed that Costa Ricans remain divided on the idea of having homosexuals in political office.
While the country remains divided on the issue, the study revealed that 46.9% of Costa Ricans approve of the idea, while 54.1% do not – meaning more Costa Ricans approve of homosexuals in office than citizens of the United States and Canada.
While it would seem that support for gay rights has been growing in Costa Rica, lawmakers abruptly took a gay union bill off the agenda in February of this year.
