FBI issues alert for American child rapist who may be in Costa Rica
May 16th, 2013 (InsideCostaRica.com) A U.S. citizen wanted by the FBI in the United States for sexually assaulting a young girl may be hiding out in Costa Rica or Panama, according to authorities.
Harold Eugene Smith, 60, was arrested in September 2010 in Montgomery County, Pennsylvania. Smith apparently fled after posting bail on January 10th, 2011. On October 16th, 2012, federal authorities issued an arrest warrant for Smith after he was charged with unlawful flight.
Smith is wanted on charges of rape, aggravated indecent assault, indecent assault, incest and corruption of a minor. Authorities say that Smith routinely raped a young female family member who was 12 or 13 years old.
Authorities say that Smith should be considered very dangerous and possibly armed. Authorities are asking anyone who sees Smith to notify the Judicial Investigation Organization (OIJ).
