May 15th, 2013 (InsideCostaRica.com) Agents of the Judicial Investigation Organization (OIJ) have arrested U.S. citizen Charles Espina, who was one of the OIJ’s most wanted fugitives. Espina had been sentenced to 12 years in prison for paying for sexual acts with a minor.
The crime for which he was convicted occurred in 2007. A warrant for his arrest was issued in January of this year, and Espina has been evading authorities since. His luck ran out yesterday, however when police arrested him at his apartment in San Pedro, Montes de Oca.
The arrest comes after several local newspapers ran photos of the OIJ’s most wanted fugitives early this week, which included a photo of Espina.
