Heredia communities without water today; expect problems to continue

May 8th, 2013 (InsideCostaRica.com) The Pubic Service Company of Heredia (ESPH) announced that seven communities in Heredia would be without water today, and to expect such water rationing to continue until the end of the dry season.

ESPH said that water flows have slowed even more than expected, dropping from the already crisis-level of 80 liters per second to just 50 liters per second.  The situation mirrors a water crisis in 1998 that was one of the most critical of the last decades.

ESPH will cut off water service in Heredia, San Francisco, Santa Cecilla, El Carmen, Corazon de Jesus, Fatima, Mercedes, and the entire area between the National University (UNA) to the stadium and Automercado to the cemetery from 9am until 4pm as part of a rationing plan to conserve water.  The cuts affect a total of 22,196 people.

After 4pm, residents may still notice low water pressure or no water at all.

ESPH is advising residents that the situation will continue until the end of the dry season, and to make necessary preparations.  ESPH is also calling on residents to minimize their water usage.
