May 2nd, 2013 (InsideCostaRica.com) Members of the U.S. Secret Service have visited the Intercontinental and Marriott hotels, as well as Clinica Biblica, where agents assessed whether the medical center was prepared should President Obama require attention. A U.S. Air Force helicopter has also been stationed on the medical center’s helipad.
Emergency plans indicate that Obama would be transferred to Clinica Biblica to receive basic care before being flown by helicopter to Air Force One, where doctors that are part of his entourage would treat him. Doctors and hospital staff at Clinica Biblica will stay overnight at the medical center on Friday.
Meanwhile, the Directorate of Intelligence and Security (DIS), has requested a list of all guests that will be staying at hotels near the Foreign Ministry on Friday.
Officers and staff at the Juan Santamaria Airport, where Obama will arrive, have also undergone a series of blood and urine tests to detect the presence of drugs, in addition to criminal background checks.
