May 1st, 2013 (InsideCostaRica.com) Executives representing the business sector in Central America will propose the construction of a gas pipeline stretching from Mexico to Panama to U.S. President Barack Obama and Central American leaders during the summit of the Central American Integration System (SICA) on May 3rd and 4th, which President Obama will be attending.

Representatives of the sector say that such a pipeline would lower energy costs and in turn increase production in the region.

One representative said in a press conference that Obama should support the initiative, saying that making Central America more competitive would help strengthen the region’s relationship with the United States, as well as to combat problems facing Central American countries and the United States, such as migration and drug trafficking.
