U.S. security agents already roaming San Jose streets as part of one of the “largest security operations in Costa Rican history”

Barack Obama

April 30th, 2013 (InsideCostaRica.com) When Air Force One lands in Costa Rica on Friday, a massive and precisely planned security operation that is already underway will kick into high gear.

More than one thousand uniformed police, in addition to 180 officers of the Directorate of Intelligence and Security (DIS) will be deployed to ensure the safety of U.S. President Barack Obama, along with officials from the Special Intervention Unit (SIU) as well as U.S. Secret Service and other security personnel, who yesterday were already roaming the streets of downtown San Jose.

Deputy Minister of the Presidency, Mauritius Boraschi, said the security operation “is one of the largest in the history of Costa Rica,” as the event will bring together the leader of the world’s largest superpower in addition to six regional presidents.

“Recent events in the United States have increased our alert,” Boraschi said, adding that surveillance and security would be rigorous at the five locations where the U.S. president would be present, in addition to the routes that will be traveled to the locations.

La Casa Amarilla (where Obama will meet with President Chinchilla), the Centro Nacional de Cultura (where a press conference will be held), and the National Theater where Obama will meet and have dinner with his Central American counterparts, in addition to a hotel either in Belen or in Escazu, are on the planned agenda for Friday.

    • dumb dumb

      • georgechapogas

it is Lawyers not lawers unless you have a new category of people needing killing that i missed. Don Buddhist of death ….lol. hey i support you. i am not humble. i do like the killing of people that need it. in your corner buddy!

  • prdatki

There has never been a President this crooked and one that has wasted so much money.. He is coming to Costa Rica to talk to the most inept and unpopular President CR has ever had. For what? He would do better to stay In DC. How much money will be spent on this trip?

    • http://www.facebook.com/fhuh.kew Fhuh Kew

HEY. Give the “woman’ credit. She’s the most unpopular in ALL of Latin America ! #1 !!!

  • youcancallmecrazybut

“largest security operations in Costa Rican history” paired with the most pompous “leader” of a free country shows how much the US Secret Service budget has gotten out of control. I want the Ticos to know that this man/child does not represent me and my ideals. I got my ideals from learning from the men and women who build the USA. Makers not Takers. This man/child is the poster child of a TAKER!

  • mhogan

I can’t believe what a gutless scaredy-cat he is. Or paranoid. Or he deep down knows how much he is disliked. Can anyone imagine him on the front lines in battle–Corporal Cowardice? What a wuss! And, by the way, why doesn’t he have a military experience?

  • georgechapogas

it could be worse, biden or hillary could have the job.

    • dumb dumb

For once your right George. American politics is a mess. The reason is the fact that the right wing of the republican party cares not about the people they want the Whitehouse and damn the people. When I lived in Canada we had a conservative government in ontario. The first thing they did was cut social spending by twenty percent. You americans should count your blessings that your system is as generous as it is.

      • georgechapogas

gosh you really are your screen name. caring for the people would be eliminating all social spending. anybody that thinks taking money from people that earned it is caring is out of their minds.

        • dumb dumb

You are only making apparent, your own small mind with your hateful posts. Can you not engage in an intelligent debate without descending into gutter talk and name calling? I am a Buddhist and, as such, it is my responsibility to care for others. As a Buddhist, I also know that I have to face all my bad deeds. From what i read of your posts, the wheel of Karma is going to roll right over you when you die. By the way, I chose the post name, “Dumb Dumb” out of humility, because, unlike you, I don’t think I know everything. Life is a learning experience and, clearly, you are in Special Education.

          • georgechapogas

dumb dumb is also the name of a bullet. your condescension in each of your posts is clear, i am just more honest. try reading the virtues of selfishness and learn why all altruism is false, selfish, and about self aggrandizement and leads to the poverty of those most in need. my learning experience is just fine. thanks so much for asking. your first post was an insult. your 2nd post was an insult. maybe you need to go meditate for a few thousand years because you and humility have never been farther away from each other…… or just call me stupid some more in new and creative ways because frankly i could care less about some fool that thinks social spending is caring. look, i made an intelligent debate. welfare creates poverty, it does not help it. like duh, or dumb!

          • mhogan

I’m Taoist. As such, perhaps it is wise to allow these minor personality irritations to pass, for in time, we shall all understand the way. Take all comments against you, but not so seriously that it turns into cruel retaliation or disturbs your tranquility. As far as I know, Buddhists do not perpetuate name calling. If you profess Buddhism, be a good one.

          • georgechapogas

do note his sweet humble opening shot “For once your right George.”
i am cynically humorous and will take aim at things i believe are bad ideas and bad solutions harshly. i endeavor to be personal to non famous people only after i have been jabbed. Taoist, Buddhism, Christianity or whatever, i have yet to meet people that reflect those beliefs or any other of the myriad wacky spiritual revelations found wandering in one desert or another. since i am an Atheist i feel qualified to say that without prejudice …lol. also, i am fine with making fun of myself or others doing the same. have at it man. but i won’t go first.

          • dumb dumb

Thank you for the advice. I’ll keep it in mind.

  • disgusted

Lady Laura it would be nice to do this for all of us who live here and pay taxes. have a police force out there helping all of US! Not just one president that no one here really cares about.

  • disgusted

Last night a President security detail made their rounds at the Del Rey, Key Largo over to the Sportsman just to name a few. I wonder if Bill Clinton was with them as well Hummm!
