April 24th, 2013 (InsideCostaRica.com) According to traffic police, traffic remains shut down in Cinco Esquinas de Tibás, after a collision between a train and a garbage truck this morning.
Apparently, the garbage truck was attempting to make a U-turn on the railroad tracks and did not have enough time to get out of the way of the train.
The incident occurred at about 6:20am and is causing severe traffic congestion in the area.
The Red Cross reported that three injured have been taken to the nearest hospital.
Update: Train service to Heredia has been suspended as a result of the accident.
