Time running out to exchange old banknotes

April 22^nd, 2013 (InsideCostaRica.com) The Central Bank is reminding residents that time is running out to exchange old 5,000 and 10,000 colon banknotes.

Residents have until April 30^th to exchange the old banknotes – the blue 10,000 colon note and the 5,000 note featuring the famous toucan – at commercial banks.

As of May 1^st, the old notes will only be exchangeable at the Central Bank.

The Central Bank began the process of removing the bills from circulation in August of last year.
