Family asks for public’s help in possible hit-and-run of young girl

April 22^nd, 2013 (InsideCostaRica.com) A 13-year-old girl appeared injured on April 16^th at about 6:30pm on the Braulio Carrillo highway in San Miguel de Santo Domingo de Heredia, suffering from a fractured skull and other injuries.

On that day, according to the child’s relatives, the child had left school and was on her way home on her bicycle.

A short time after, Maria Isabel Sojo received a call from authorities who had found her injured daughter.

The child was initially taken to the hospital in Heredia, before being transferred to Hospital Mexico in San Jose.

Since then, according to the girl’s sister, the girl has been operated on three times and is currently recovering at the medical center.

Relatives say that the girl’s twisted bicycle, as well as vehicle skid marks were found at the location where the child was found.

The family believes the girl was likely the victim of a hit-and-run driver, and is hoping a member of the public may have seen what happened.
