April 9th, 2013 (InsideCostaRica.com) Small Latin American hotel operators will meet for the first time on April 18th and 19th in Costa Rica, in order to form the American Network of Small Hotels, the organizers of the event announced yesterday.

The meeting is sponsored by the Organization of American States (OAS), which named San Jose as the venue for the first meeting of its kind in the region.

The National Network of Small Hotels (Rednaph) said yesterday in a statement that “the meeting will allow owners of small hotels in the Latin American region – those with 5 to 50 rooms – to deal with relevant issues such as associativity, competitiveness, technology, and sustainability.”

In addition, the meeting will create the American Network of Small Hotels, and will launch an online reservation that will unify the technology process at member hotels.

Rednaph president, Jane Lemaire, said that having Costa Rica host the event “is a reaffirmation that [Costa Rica] is still an important reference for tourism in the region.”

Hotel representatives from all of Central America, as well as Argentina, Bolivia, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, and Peru are expected to attend.
