3.5-magnitude quake rattles Cartago early this morning after 5.2 Orotina quake yesterday

January 25th, 2013 (InsideCostaRica.com) An earthquake measuring 3.5 magnitude with its epicenter at Guarco de Cartago was felt this morning at 12:40 am.

 

The Volcanological and Seismological Observatory of Costa Rica (OVSICORI) reported that the quake occurred at a depth of 18 kilometers.

 

The National Seismological Network (RSN) said the quake was also reported as being felt in Aserri, Curridabat, Desamparados, Guadalupe and Escazu.

 

The RSN reported that so far this month there have been a total of 118 earthquakes, 37 more than were recording in January 2012.

 

The strongest temblor so far this January occurred yesterday at 1:08 am near Orotina, which measured 5.2 on the Richter scale.
