December 30th, 2012 (InsideCostaRica.com) A 39 year old U.S. citizen, identified as Brian Maltez, was carried away by a wave in Punta Uva Beach in Cahuita, Talamanca.
The man disappeared at around 8:30 am yesterday, according to authorities.
Cleto Morales, from the Fuerza Publica (Public Police Force), stated that Manter was with friends right before the accident occurred.
“A 24 year old girl also disappeared with him. However, she was found alive about half an hour later. Her name is Domino Martinez and was transferred to the Home Creek Clinic in stable condition,” he said.
Another teenager also disappeared on December 27th in Coyote Beach, Nandayure.
The 13-year-old minor was with 2 other people who were also carried away by strong currents. They were immediately rescued.
The Red Cross has been searching the area since 4:30 a.m. on Friday.
Police lent emergency personnel an airplane so that they could conduct an areal search where the young man disappeared.
