Treasurer of PLN steps down

Alicia Fournier

Alicia Fournier

November 21st, 2012 (InsideCostaRica.com) Legislator  Alicia Fournier of the National Liberation Party (PLN, in Spanish) will step down from her position as party treasurer today, after presenting a resignation letter two weeks ago.  She has occupied the position since 2010.

Fournier explained that her resignation is not based on any disagreement with members of her party, but is based on personal issues, lack of time, and the fact that the treasury will be managed “differently” in the next presidential campaign.

“The (presidential) campaign is about to begin, and that takes up a lot of one’s time. I had assumed the treasury for two years, and I always said that I was not going to be there during the campaign. There are changes ahead, a different form of treasury is coming, with the pre-campaign coming up, so I quit,” she said.

The legislator, who assures that she is a “Figuerista” (a follower of former president, Jose Maria Figueres), said that she does not have a preference for any particular candidate, yet.

“I am not supporting any candidate yet, I have been a Figuerista all my life and will continue to be so,” she added.
