Five men arrested, 65 kilograms of cocaine confiscated in Desamparados

November 21^st, 2012 (InsideCostaRica.com) Authorities arrested five men on Tuesday night in Desamparados, confiscating 65 kilograms of cocaine in the process.

The officers arrived at house in a neighborhood called “Itaipu” in San Juan de Dios in Desamparados Tuesday night.

After speaking with the occupants of the house, they inspected the property and found the drugs.

The men who were arrested were identified by the last names of Delgado, Alvarez, Gomez, Retana and Calderon.  Retana is suspected of being the leader of the group.  Calderon is a former police officer.

Authorities confiscated 4 luxury vehicles, 65 kilograms of cocaine and several bulletproof vests found on the property.

Police suspect the group stored drugs at the house on behalf of various drug trafficking organizations.
