“Lincoln Plaza” opened yesterday

Lincoln Plaza, San Jose, Costa Rica

November 11th, 2012 (InsideCostaRica.com) The new shopping mall known as Lincoln Plaza, located on the northeastern side of San Jose, opened its doors yesterday.

As of yesterday however, only 50% of the mall’s shops were ready to open. According to Anabelle Granados, Operations Manager, 80% of the shops will be up and running by the end of the month, and 90% are expected to be ready by the end of the year.

There are a total of 150 commercial locations in the mall, including stores, movie theaters, restaurants, and a food court. The “anchor” stores, considered important due to the amount of people that tend to visit them, opened yesterday. These are Mas x Menos, Yamuni and Universal.

Movie theaters, also considered anchor locations, will open on November 16th.

There are 147 locations that have already been rented or reserved.

The shopping center is designed to attract residents from Moravia, Goicoechea, San Pedro (Montes de Oca), Santo Domingo and Tibas.

The mall has approximately 1,400 indoor parking spaces, and about 60 outdoor spaces. The parking garage has an automatic system that reports the number of available spaces on each level. For the time being, parking is free of charge, but will be paid in the near future.

Among other outlets open for business, there is Spoleto, a franchise that specializes in casual Italian food; the Spanish clothing store “Springfield” and the Brazilian “Hering” which are new to the Costa Rican market.

In 2013, international chains such as Timberland, Forever 21, Arturo Calle and Express will open their doors at Lincoln Plaza.
