October 26th, 2012 (InsideCostaRica.com) – Authorities from China donated $1.3 million dollars worth of medical equipment to Costa Rica’s National Police Academy yesterday.
The Chinese ambassador in Costa Rica, Li Changua, reminded Costa Rica of China’s “unconditional support” by mentioning donations such as the National Stadium, the issuance of patrol cars for the Fuerza Publica, and financing of the National Police Academy.
The Chinese ambassador said that through these donations, the relationship between the countries would continue to strengthen. He also said the donations demonstrate the importance that China places on its friendship with Costa Rica.
Among the donated equipment are heart monitors, electrocardiographs, and X-ray machines.
Costa Rica’s President, Laura Chinchilla, said that the donation would be used to provide medical services to police officers.
Minister of Security, Mario Zamora, thanked China for its support of Costa Rica’s security concerns, and said that the support has been very helpful in reducing crime levels.
