Gasoline price will break record in October
SAN JOSE, COSTA RICA – September 17th, 2012 – If you own a vehicle, you may want to review your budget. In October, a liter of gasoline will cost 30 colons more. With this raise, gasoline prices will reach their highest prices ever in Costa Rica, with “regular” gasoline costing 748 colons, while “super” will cost 786 colons per liter.
In US measures, that is 2,831.48 per gallon for regular ($5.75/gallon at today’s exchange rate) and 2,975.33 per gallon for super – that’s $6.04/gallon at today’s exchange rate.
An SUV with a 21 gallon tank will cost $126.48 to fill up from empty. A mid-size passenger car with a 16 gallon tank would cost $96.64.
These will be the highest gasoline prices ever recorded in the country, beating the record established last April, when “super” gasoline reached 746 colons per liter, and “regular” reached 735 colons per liter.
