Man still barricaded in his home after 19 hours

ZAPOTE – September 10th, 2012 – A man identified by the last name of Quesada remains barricaded in his home in the Moreno Canas neighborhood of Zapote at this hour, after a standoff that began yesterday which apparently started during a dispute with the man’s brother.

Police believe the man has at least three firearms.  Neighbors, via telephone, have been attempting to convince the man to surrender to no avail.  The man’s brother also has attempted, from outside the home, to convince the man to surrender and lay down his weapons.

Quesada, who police say is in his 30’s, suffers from apparent mental problems and has been treated at the National Psychiatric Hospital.

Authorities say this is not the first time the man has barricaded himself in his home while firing shots into the air.

OIJ continues to have the home surrounded at this time.
