Processes First Sea Crude
Caracas - Petroleos de Venezuela (PDVSA)
informed that it processed its first
shipment of oil extracted in the sea
obtained in the Paria Gulf by the Paraguana
Refining center.
The company reported that 240,000 barrels of
crude arrived at the coast of Falcon state
and were processed in two stages at a rate
of 50,000 barrels a day after running the
corresponding tests.
It is a medium crude of 24 API degrees, high
salt content, between 40 and 50 PTB, or
pounds of salt for every thousand barrels of
crude.
The institution added that, due to its
characteristics, it was processed in a CD3
unit with a desalter that allows a reduction
of between 70 and 80 percent to obtain a
crude with adequate mineral content.
CD3 is a conditioning distillation unit that
was conditioned in 2000 to process crude
with a high content of sulfur, high
naphthalene acidity and synthetic crude
produce by enhancement faclities in the
eastern part of the country.
Results were within expected norms and the
Corocoro crude can be incorporated without
limit to the Paraguana Refining Center to
obtain gasoline, kerosene, medium gas oil
and other by products, PDVA assured.
Meanwhile, 790,000 barrels of Corocoro crude
were exported mainly the Dutch Antilles.
PDVSA indicated that with the success of
processing this type of crude Venezuela took
another step to expand its oil sector. |
