Provokes Heavy Toxic Cloud in Panama City, 6

Panama - At least
six people were injured as a storehouse in
the commercial zone of Panama City caught
fire and provoked heavy toxic cloud on
Friday.
Preliminary reports from the Corps of
Firemen from Panama (CBP) said the
storehouse, known as "La Oca Loca", was
completely destroyed.
Three of the injured were firemen who were
affected for inhaling toxic smoke and gases.
Panamanian authorities said the fire took
place in the night when the place was
closed.
Luis Francisco Sucre, director from the
National System of Civil Protection (Sinaproc),
said that 1,378 people in the area were
evacuated as the smoke was produced by toxic
products, plastics and fabrics.
The firemen also made a call for volunteers
in the city to join the fight against fire,
and the fire was fully under control after
nine hours.
According to the CBP, some 200 firemen
helped put out the fire, and 8million
gallons of water were used.
To avoid lootings, officers from the
National Police blocked the zone and
deviated traffic. Authorities are
investigating the cause of the fire. |
