Killed in Colombia
Bogota - Two priests were shot dead at the
Mision de Pascua boarding school in La
Primavera municipality, in eastern Vichada
department.
The killing, perpetrated on Monday, was
revealed today by police, which is looking
for two former students as the possible
responsible.
Preliminary versions indicated that the
motive was to steal money recently collected
in a bazaar.
Police Commander in Vichada, Lieut. Col.
Jorge Luis Ramirez, told journalists that
everything appears to indicate that the two
priests were killed as they put up
resistance to the thieves. Police tightened
security in the Vichada department and even
offered a 15-million pesos reward (nearly
$7,000) to anyone providing information
about the killers' whereabouts.
The crime has sparked outrage and fear among
La Primavera inhabitants.
