Tegucigalpa - Presidents of Colombia, Alvaro
Uribe and Honduras Manuel Zelaya will sign
administrative agreements in Bio-fuel as
part of the links both governments have
developed in the field of energy.
Uribe who arrive to this States
accomplishing a State visit will also attend
along with his Honduran peer inauguration of
a bio-diesel plant in the Caribbean
department of Colon.
According to La Tribuna newspaper the text
the two leaders will sign will complement
the Basic Technical Cooperation Agreement
over Bio-fuel, in force since 1980.
With capacity to produce 10,000 liters of
bio-diesel daily the facility mentioned is
functioning here since 2008 after delivery
of a project by Colombian authorities.
The factory, located in Tocoa at 279 miles
north of Tegucigalpa, uses African palm oil
and the operations benefit small producers.
Its investment has exceeded one million
dollars starting from a joint fund in which
Colombia donated 80 percent and Honduras
gave the rest.
According to local press media the Honduran
National Congress gave South American leader
honorary decoration in its degree of
Extraordinary Grand Cruz with gold plaque.
Uribe will finally speak at a press
conference before finishing his brief stay
in this Central American nation. |
