Caracas - The preparations for the 2010
Central American and Caribbean Games in
Mayagüez, Puerto Rico, are at 55 percent of
their culmination, informed the president of
the Central American and Caribbean Sport
Organization, Hector Cardona Thursday here.
In a press round here Thursday, Cardona
assured that the remodelling and
construction of works is going fine and
confirmed that skating, squash, nautical
ski, rhythmic gymnastics, modern pentathlon,
rowing and Basque Jai Alai, will be disputed
in the city of Guadalajara, Mexico.
He anticipated that the cycling competition
could be transferred to the Mexican city
because of problems with the sport structure
of the discipline, because there is a
velodrome in Puerto Rico, but it was damaged
by realization of non-sport activities.
The sport leader is in Venezuela to give
detailed information on the balance of the
preparation of the regional games.
In the context of this visit the president
of the Venezuelan Olympic Committee, Eduardo
Alvarez, reported on the arrival of
international sport personalities to the
country, such as the president of the
International Softball Federation, Don
Porter, to talk on the return of this sport
discipline and baseball to the Olympic Games
