to Venezuela Second Military Vessel
Caracas Spanish state-own military
shipyard Navantia delivered Venezuela the
second of eight military vessels built for
the Venezuelan Navy, authorities said here
on Wednesday.

Zahim Quintana Castro attended the delivery
ceremony at Spanish city of Cadiz, from
where the vessel set to sail to Venezuela.
The Venezuelan authorities expected to set
sail similar vessels every six months, the
commander was quoted by local media as
saying.
The vessel, named after "Cacique Yavire",
one of the greatest chieftains from the
Caribbean, will patrol the country's more
than 2,000 km coasts and 21 islands, to
safeguard the maritime traffic and fight
against the pollution off the coast, said

Hardy, who also attended the ceremony.
Navantia president Juan Pedro Gomez said the
vessel is of the last generation, and the
company has delivered another similar boat
last year. A third military vessel will be
delivered in the coming six months.
In 2005, President Hugo Chavez's government
agreed with Spain to build eight military
ships for the country's Navy.
